We loved with a love that was more than love.
— Edgar Allan Poe

Nicole & Charlie first met at a Halloween party many full moons ago. Nicole was dressed as a zombie bride. They hit it off instantly, they shared a passion for family, camping and the outdoors. The rest was history!

Charlie proposed at their favourite camping spot at Inskip Point just before Fraser Island. They had the picnic spot all to themselves whilst the sun was setting behind them, it was so sweet and so perfect for them. From zombie bride to real life bride, these two have really kicked some goals finding each other at that party.

Nicole and her bridesmaids, which included her gorgeous two sisters, got ready at their parents house at Varsity Lakes. It was such a great and open home with perfect natural lighting for the makeup and pampering going on in the lounge room. The champagne glasses were topped up throughout the morning and everyone was extremely excited whilst getting ready.

As their wedding was in Numinbah Valley, Nicole & Charlie organised a bus to collect guests from one central location that was easy for people to get to and park. Then on they went for the 30-minute bus ride into the countryside. This is a great way for those who want to have a few drinks and not have to worry about driving home. They can then arrange transport from a spot which is easier to get to and it also insures a bulk of your guests arrive to the ceremony on time. Oh trust me there will always be one to two guests that run late.

The weather was touch and go as it rained for most of the morning however we were positive it wasn’t going to rain for the ceremony. We decided to hold off on placing the bench seating in case we had to move it all back indoors. We waited (while sussing out some strong males in the group) for a last minute outdoor move. As predicted the weather stopped, we ran benches out and by the time the girls arrived the sun was out and shining. It was the perfect timing!

The ceremony went off splendidly! Just Nicole & Charlie standing up there in front of all their nearest and dearest whilst exchanging their vows. Sealed with a kiss and signing of the legal paperwork, they were officially Mr. & Mrs. Smith!

Now we love seeing emotion at weddings, it fills up our hearts so much! One of Nicole’s beautiful bridesmaid was filled with so much happy emotions that she cried in the car, walking down the aisle, whilst Nicole and Charlie were standing together, the vows and of course the speeches. Once she started, other started! We loved it!

Everyone flocked to congratulate the newly weds and then flocked to the bar shortly after. Everyone was so relaxed and fun! We slowly rounded everyone up for group photos and then family photos.

When the sun started to set the temperature dropped slightly, we had fire drums going to keep the guests warm. All the guests stood round the fires and exchanged camping stories, it actually took us a while to get some of the males to move into the reception hall before the bridal entrance!

Whilst the guests enjoyed nibbles and beverages, the bridal party went off into neighbouring fields, stood in front of old sheds and did their thing for some awesome photo taking skills by Erin Simpson Photography! Gosh aren’t they all so pretty! Half of the pictures we got back were of them all laughing and being natural amongst best mates, this is the perfect way to capture these special moments!  We made sure there was plenty of food and booze to keep the bridal party at bay in between snaps. Once done, the bridal party joined their guests for a few relaxed sunset drinks before everyone headed inside to see the reception space.

Fun fact: Charlie actually had a mullet when we first met him, everyone apparently loved the mullet, however it unfortunately didn’t make an appearance for the wedding. It was, however, present in a few speeches… sorry Charlie!

This venue comes with the most amazing hall, it has white walls, white ceilings and beautiful wooden floors. There were 8 long guest tables along with the bridal table. Nicole & Charlie had organised beautiful festoon lighting which was suspended above the guest tables and of course the dance floor. The tables were lined with green foliage, candles and a wine bottle as the table numbers, which by the way were named after funny towns across Australia, this was a nice personalised touch!

As their catering was american styled bbq, Nicole & Charlie organised a bbq kit and a bag of popcorn as their guest favours, the bbq kit had a bib for eating the ribs and a wet wipe for the mess which was perfect!

After mains and cutting of the cake, the party officially started when their band, Venus Envy, hit the stage! The entertainment was really important to Nicole & Charlie, they wanted to still have formalities but not a dragged out evening, instead they wanted everyone to get out of their chairs and dance the night away. Which is exactly what we all did!

Bride's Advice -"Planning a wedding is full on especially if it’s on a budget. So here’s my three bits of advice:

1. Don’t forget to add meaningful touches to the day. I had a table of photos for the ones who couldn’t be there. It touched our families and meant so much to us.

2. Hire a coordinator!!!

3. Don’t forget to make it unquestionably ‘yours"

Who supplied the magic on day?

A massive shout out to all the below who were involved. Working with this style of venue really takes a lot of effort from all suppliers involved, certain tasks need to be completed first such as lighting before tables and chairs get put in place, but everyone worked like clockwork to make it amazing for Nicole & Charlie!

JR's Smokehouse got there at sunrise to ensure all the meat was perfect for the time main course was served, try setting up with the smell of beef brisket being smoked, it was super tricky but worth the wait!
